Picking the Perfect (Recaro) Seat

If you're daily driving your car, then you probably fall under the umbrella of commuters who drive anywhere from 40-50 minutes a day for their average commute. That can be from going to work, hanging out with friends, or doing errands with your car. If you add up all the minutes around the year, you're clocking at about 240 - 305 hours of driving annually. If you're spending that much time in your car, then you might as well try to make it comfortable with a brand new seat. We opted to shop around Recaro's vast array of seats as they are our go-to brand for aftermarket seats.

The first seat we tried are the Recaro RS-G GK's in Black Kamui with a Silver Glass Mesh finish. We sourced a matching pair as our first test seats and have been happy with these. There's enough bolstering on the shoulders and thighs to make you feel hugged in the seat while you are at the track; allowing you to focus on the optimal line without worrying to brace yourself on an upcoming turn. Despite the wings come out a good amount and the side bolsters being tall, getting in and out of this seat was not very cumbersome on the daily. It still felt comfortable to sit in during a drive to and from San Diego the same day.

After having the RSG's as a daily for some time, we tried out the Sportster CS. As a daily seat, this definitely felt like an upgrade from the stock seats, but not by much. The thigh bolstering sits higher, but the ribs and shoulders did not feel that much different from an OEM seat. The biggest bonus is retaining the foldable backrest for ease of access to the back seats.

Once there's news of a track day coming up, we lean to the trusty RMS for our racing needs. The RMS offers the most padding and stiffness to make sure our driver, Son, is planted into the seat. With all the bolsters and pads, he absolutely won't have to worry about being thrown around or bracing himself for an upcoming turn.

The Pole Position is something we wanted to experiment on without compromising the driver's experience since we found our comfortable setup for the driver's seat. The Pole Position's soft cushioning made for an excellent passenger seat..

Ultimately, our daily setup boiled down to having the Recaro RSG in Black Kamui and Silver Glass Mesh for the driver seat and the Pole Position in Red Jersey for the passenger seat. We unfortunately didn't get any pictures of this combination before our upcoming track season, but we found it to be the most comfortable combination while maintaining a motorsport oriented setup.
