The sweet, sweet sound sound of fresh, cool air being sucked through an intake of course; now that's the good stuff. An aftermarket air intake system is typically the first modification a project car goes through. Since the GR86 is still comparatively new to the market, our team opted for the full GReddy intake setup for our shop car.
By deleting the resonator chamber to the stock air box, there are less air channels being diverted away from the intake arm. This creates a direct funnel into the throttle body for a smoother, steady flow of air into the throttle body. Having GReddy's larger intake arm also increases the total volume being introduced to the system with as little restriction as possible.
With the snorkel positioned in front of the core support, fresh air is funneled into the duct and directly to the air box. This composition allows the filter to suck in fresh, cold air from outside the car instead of the heat soaked air within the engine bay. As mentioned earlier, we deleted the resonator chamber for direct flow into the arm. We needed a
We also added in GReddy's replacement high flow air filter to complete the whole package. The charcoal filter had also been removed in order to achieve better air flow to the throttle body as well. Since this is our dedicated track car, we have to squeeze every bit of horsepower that we can get.
