When it comes to performance driving, there are multiple ways to get your car faster out on the track. However, reducing weight is one of the best ways to shave those precious seconds while enhancing the driving experience and response of the car.
The crew swapped out the two piece OEM driveshaft from Subaru and replaced it with a one piece carbon fiber driveshaft from J-Fiber. Our new driveshaft utilizes 7075-T6 aluminum in order to achieve the best possible durability and weight savings. The ratio of the carbon weave is 70% carbon to 30% epoxy and is machined in a way to eliminate air bubbles for maximum integrity.
By having the driveshaft as one piece versus two, there are less moving pieces that can fail during operation. This also reduces the weight of the vehicle by approximately 12 pounds. The carbon driveshaft will also have a smoother power transition to the rear wheels versus a two piece shaft.
